Cure for Black Magic

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: I have been ill for many years and I suspect it might be black magic, but the doctor says it’s depression. I have been to India and whilst I was there I went to a moulana and he gave me taaweez. When I come back to England, I felt sad and sometimes I fight. My health deteriates mentally. I am not willing to take any medicine (because I have taken lots of medicine in the past for various illnesses). Relatives have suggested I go India again, but i’m not sure about what I should do. What do you suggest?

A. The best cure is that which has been prescribed by Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam). He has taught us that the recital of the three Quls (Surahs Ikhlaas, Falaq and Naas) daily after Fajr and Maghrib) suffices against everything; whether it be black magic, Jinn, depression, etc. (Mishkaat V1 P489).

Recite this and other daily Masnoon Du’aas with full faith and conviction and make plenty Du’aa for yourself. Also recite Qur’aan daily. If you do this, Inshaa Allah you will not need to see anyone for a Ta’weez, etc.

Our problem is that we do not have enough faith in the words and instructions of the most truthful of mankind; Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) but want to resort to all other unnecessary means.

Use of a Ta’weez is permissible but there is nothing better than the prescription given by Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam).

May Allah Ta’aala grant you relief, Aameen.
