Q: In the past when I was away from my wife I used to frequently watch porn and masturbate. I have left this sinful act about a year ago, but I want to know if what I did in the past invalidates my marriage?
A. Although watching porn, etc. are major sins, it does not invalidate your marriage. Your marriage is still intact, in spite of these past mistakes. Make Shukr to Allah Ta’aala that you have abandoned these acts for almost one year. This is a great achievement, because sins of lust take long to remedy. Make Taubah (repentance) for the past sins. May Allah accept your Taubah and bless you with His closeness, Aameen.
