Coming Together after Irrevocable Divorce

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: One of my friends had been divorced from her husband with talak-e-bain (irrevocable divorce). her iddat (waiting period) is still going on. 15 days is still remaining. The reason for which they had to divorce has been resolved. They both want to reconcile. How can they do this?

A: In the case of Talaaq Baa’in, a new Nikah is required for them to reconcile, whether it is during the Iddat or after the Iddat has expired.
