Should I stay with my parents or move out?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I am writing this from Dubai, Lately I am in a bit of confusion which I would like to discuss with you. Our tenancy contract is expiring in a month and me and my wife prefer to move out which I also presume is the right way as per shariah while my parents prefer to stay together with me and my brother (27 yrs) and my younger sister (22 Yrs).

Unfortunately my dads financial conditional is not very strong and moving out will leave me and my brother out of cash to support him, However my dad is still in job and can very well support himself and mom in sharjah, Which they are not willing to do. Can you advice what would be the most advisable move for us as an individual Me as a Son+Husband, Brother as a Son, Sister as a Daughter, Father and Mother.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Brother in Islam,

In order for us to advise you please clarify the following:

  1. Why do you want to move out and stay separately from your parents? Is there any difficulty you are facing by staying with them and your siblings?
  2. First you mentioned: “unfortunately my dad’s financial conditional is not very strong and moving out will leave me and my brother out of cash to support him.” Then you mentioned:  “however my dad is still in job and can very well support himself and mom in sharjah, which they are not willing to do.” Your statements are very confusing what exactly do you mean? Is your dads financial condition stable or is it not?
