If a woman starts her journey in menses and upon arriving her menses stop should she make qasar?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

If a woman undertakes a long journey which is more than the distance requried to be musafir whilst she is in Menses and then once arriving at the destitntaion the menses stops is she requried to make full salah or can she make qassr? (forgive me if my wording is incorrect).

Further if full salah is needed and someone has been shortening their salah due to not knowing the ruling, how can she remedy the situation?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

A woman travelling maybe faced with the following four situations:

1. A woman commences her travel in the state of haidh (menstruation) and she becomes pure upon reaching her destination.

2.  She commences her travel in the state of haidh and her haidh stopped during the course of her journey, but the distance between where she is and her destination is less than 78km (the distance that one becomes a musafir).

3.  She commences her travel in the state of haidh and her haidh stopped during the course of her journey, but the distance between where she became pure and her destination is more than (78km).

4. She commences her travel in a state of purity and she experiences haidh at a later stage during the course of her travel.

In the above two situations (point 1, 2) she will perform all of her prayers in full. However, in the last two situations (point 3, 4) she will make qasar (shorten her prayers). [1]

If one shortens hisher Salah where one was supposed to pray Salah in full due to being unaware of the ruling, then the shortened Salahs should be repeated. [2]
