My wife is cheating on me

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I got married 1.5 month back. I made istikhara for this marriage till 7 days. There was no clear indication seen in the istikhara but my heart was towards the marriage as I heared that girl is vey deeni and punctual in namaz.

But from the beginning of my marriage I noticed that girl is ignoring me I think it could be that girl is shy.

Last week I was shocked to know that girl love someone and still talk to that person. I came to know all this as there is call recorder in my mobile.

I talk to my wife and ask her why she is doing such things. She made tauba and promise me that will not repeat again.

But I can’t trust on her becauae it is her habit of telling lie.

Now my question is that should I made istikhara again to continue this marriage. Because I am very confused and can’t trust on her. Please tell me what I should do as I am very disturbed. Please tell me can I made istikhara agian to continue or stop this marriage.

Please help as I am very upset.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Brother in Islam,

We are sad to hear of your predicament. May Allah Ta’āla ease pain during this difficulty. Ameen.

The foundation of every marriage is based on mutual trust and understanding. If a relationship does not have these then it is most likely to fail. In your query, you mentioned that your wife is in love with someone else and when you confronted her she promised she would make Taubah and not do it again. Our advice is you discuss the issue with the seniors of your family and her family and mention to them the following points:

  • Ø You have completely lost trust in her.
  • Ø She is in love with someone else.
  • Ø She has a habit of lying.
  • Ø You also do not think that she will discontinue her extra marital affair.
  • Ø For the rest of your married life you will be worried and paranoid.
  • Ø It has only been one and a half months into the marriage.

Observe the response of the family members and thereafter seek counsel from appropriate persons you trust and follow their guidance. Turn to Allah and seek guidance from Allah to make the correct decision.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
