Dealing with Evil Eye

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

How should we deal with a person who casts an evil eye for petty things. For example, when they get to know that I am doing well and they aren’t, I get negative vibes from them. Can I overcome this by not revealing such stuff to them ?

Some of my relatives are not that strong financially and when they see that their other relatives are doing quite well financially, they show signs of envy.

I try my best to keep a low profile.

Should we keep a safe distance from such people ?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Two of the greatest bounties that Allah Ta‘ālā has granted this ummah are Surah Al Falaq (#113) and Surah Al Nas (#114). These two Surahs are called Mu‘āwizatain. As the name suggests, they are recited to protect oneself from all types of evil, including evil eye. We advise you to recite these two Surahs daily. You should also abstain from showing off your wealth.

Also, if your relatives are in a financial constraint and you have the means to assist them, it is your moral responsibility to assist them. If you spend on them you will receive double the reward. One for sadaqah, and the other for joining family ties.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
