Should I go Bride’s home or bring her in my home on the day of marriage after nikah done at mosque ?

What is the procedures to follow to marry in the mosque?

Will Bride come to mosque as well?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Your zeal and enthusiasm to follow the sunnah is a sign of your love for deen and Rasulullah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam).

In Islam the overall sunnah of nikah is to be simple and free from extravagance. In choosing simplicity, Allah Ta’ala will bring barakah and blessings in one’s marriage.

The nikah ceremony should be held in the masjid on the day of Friday.[1] The bride will not attend the nikah ceremony in the masjid, her wali (guardian) such as the father etc. will represent her in the nikah ceremony. After the nikah the mahram of the bride shall bring her to the groom’s house.

The following practices should be avoided:

  • To incur debts in order to have a grand and luxurious wedding.
  • Customs which are contrary to the teachings and laws of Shariah.
  • Intermingling of the opposite genders.
  • Music.
  • Photography.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
