Childrens names

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I am resubmitting this question, because unintentionally only half of the part got submitted.

I have kept my daughter name as “Anzila Rehma “since last 2 years.

I kept her name as Anzila by considering the meaning as “Light” But now I heard that “Light” is not the correct meaning and Anzila does not possess a good meaning I am really confuse and worring about my daughter.

Can you please help me to sort-out following queries.

1. Please let me know the exact meaning of the Anzila and is it good to keep the name Anzila ?

2.If Anzila name is good, Shall I keep her name in combination with Rehma, i.e. Anzila Rehma, and what meaning will come out after combining Anzila with Rehma ( meaning of Anzila Rehma) ?

3.By keeping the name as “Anzila Rehma”, if people calls by single name either Anzila or Rehma, do there will be any impact on her life. Insha allah, Allah will reward you.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The word Anzil means “send down” and Rahma means “mercy”.

Your daughter’s name should be Rahma only without Anzila.
