A friend of mine has a big property to let out. He has been approached by a mortgage company for hiring the place. They lend money on mortgage and charge interest on loans.
My friend wants to know if he can let out the property to them. He has already said no to the bank and Dept. store who sell pork and alcohol and the property has been vacant for more than a year. I will appreciate a reply.

Oneshould abstain from renting ones property to a mortgage company. However, we understand from the query that your place is vacant for more than a year and you are un able to lease out. Therefore, if one is going through financial constraint and is unable to lease out his property except to a mortgage company, then there is leeway in doing so.
في الدر المختار: ( و ) جاز ( إجارة بيت بسواد الكوفة ) أي قراها ( لا بغيرها على الأصح ) وأما الأمصار وقرى غير الكوفة فلا يمكنون لظهور شعار الإسلام فيها ، وخص سواد الكوفة لأن غالب أهلها أهل الذمة ( ليتخذ بيت نار أو كنيسة أو بيعة أو يباع فيه الخمر ) وقالا لا ينبغي ذلك لأنه إعانة على المعصية وبه قالت الثلاثة ، زيلعي
وقال ابن عابدين رحمه الله: ( قوله وجاز إجارة بيت إلخ ) هذا عنده أيضا لأن الإجارة على منفعة البيت ، ولهذا يجب الأجر بمجرد التسليم ، ولا معصية فيه وإنما المعصية بفعل المستأجر وهو مختار فينقطع نسبيته عنه ، فصار كبيع الجارية ممن لا يستبرئها أو يأتيها من دبر وبيع الغلام من لوطي والدليل عليه أنه لو آجره للسكنى جاز وهو لا بد له من عبادته فيه ا هـ زيلعي وعيني ومثله في النهاية والكفاية
