1. Sometimes turban can cover forehead, and making sujood would entail doing so over the cloth of the turban. In such a case, the forehead does not touch the earth directly. Is the sajda valid? Is it a requirement for the bare forehead to touch the earth?

2. Can we pray wajib salah sitting without excuse (such as Witr, or Salah that became wajib due to an oath)?

3. When we pray qadha (regular or umri), can we recite them out loud for fajr, maghrib, and ishaa?

Assalāmu ῾alaykum wa Rahmatullāhi Wabarakātuh



1. It is undesirable (makrooh tanzihi) to make sajdah on a turban
which covers part or the entire
forehead. However, if one does so, the salah will be valid but the reward will be decreased.

NB:

There are two important points to note related to this issue, which many are careless of:

a) In the instance where one’s turban is
extremely thick

, one should ensure that the actual forehead also touches the ground.

b) In a case where, the turban is tied on the head

only
, not the forehead, and sajdah is made over the turban without the forehead touching the ground, the sajdah will not be valid.

2) Without a valid excuse, it is not permissible to perform a farz, witr or a salah which became wajib due to an oath, whilst sitting. If such a salah was performed sitting, the salah will have to be repeated.

3) If a person is performing the farz of Fajr, Maghrib or Esha individually, whether it’s in the prescribed time or after, at day time or night, he will have a choice of reading the salah soft or aloud. In fact, reading aloud is preferable since this is how it is performed in congregation. However, in this case, the qirat should be recited much softer; enough to hear oneself, since there are no muqtadees (followers).

NB:

a) In the case where the salah is read in
the presence of others, we should ensure that the loudness of recital does not inconvenience them in any way. If there is the fear of disturbing, one will have no option but to recite softly.

b) If the, Fajr, Maghrib or Esha are qaza salahs, they should not be read aloud in
the presence of others especially during the day since others will realize this is a qaza and hold bad opinions of you.

أن صحة السجود


على الكور إذا كان على الجبهة أو بعضها ، أما إذا كان على الرأس فقط وسجد عليه ولم تصب جبهته الأرض على القول بتعيينها ولا أنفه على مقابله لا تصح ((در المختار ص500,سعيد))

والمنفرد بفرض مخير فيما يجهر فإن شاء جهر لأنه إمام نفسه لكن لا يبالغ في الجهر مثل الإمام لأنه لا يسمع غيره وجهره هكذا أفضل ليكون الأداء على هيئة الجماعة وظاهرة ولو قضاء نهارا وهو ما في الكافي ,حاشية الطحطاوى على مراقى الفلاح ص254
