Is the name of my daughter “Tahrim” allowed in Islam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I named my daughter “Tahrim”, which was my choice and then I found out from one of my alim friend while visiting india that it’s better to change her name due to the reason of wrongful meanings and he also advice me to consult other islamic scholars for the issue, please advice me whether it’s legally allowed name in islam or should I think about changing it soon.

Answer

We concur with your Aalim friend to change your daughters name ?Tahrim? to another suitable name.

Tahrim means to prohibit.
