What does is meaning of Sura An-Nur verses 3 and 4? Can a fornicator marry a chaste muslim woman?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have a Question regarding the laws of marriage. I would be Greatful if you would help me with the Islamic Point of view on my problem. About two years ago i committed Zina with a hindu girl. I realised my mistake and have been repenting for my sins ever since . Please Pray that Allah forgives me. For the past 10 months i have been in love with a muslim girl who is pure and chaste. To be fair to her i told her about my past . Though she likes me too she is not sure if she is permitted by Islam to be in a Marriage relationship with me because of my past sins. Please Tell us if we are allowed to be married according to Islamic law. What is the interpretation of verses 3-4 of sura An-Nur (24). Can a fornicator marry a chaste muslim woman? Allah hafiz Hoping to get your speedy reply Allah Hafiz

Answer

It is permissible for a person (male or female) who committed adultery to
marry a chaste person. The Nikah will be perfectly valid. This is an
unanimously accepted ruling. The verses in reference is in the context of
condemning perpetrators of evil beliefs and practices and merely outlines
the inclination of such people to people of their ideology and belief.
