When a person has an argument with a non Muslim or with a Shia defending Islam or defending Sahabah, even if it is via the internet, does he get rewarded?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org
Answer

It is Fardh upon every Muslim to defend Islam and the illustrious position
of the Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Anhum) in every possible way including
electronic mail, etc.

Just as a person is rewarded for fulfilling his Fardh Salaat, so too will he
be rewarded for fulfilling the Fardh of defending Islam and the illustrious
Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Anhum).

and Allah Ta’ala Knows Best
