Can the zakat be given to my brother or sister, wife’s parents, … Do i need to give the entire zakat now or can i keep a portion to give it when im in my home country?

1. Can the zakat be given to my brother or sister. Reason iam asking this questions here is, i could not see any clear answer for this one in the forum.
2. Can the zakat be given to my wife’s parents.
3. Do i need to give the entire zakat now or can i keep a portion to give it when im in my home country

Answer

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh

1. It is permissible to give Zakaat to one’s brothers and sisters provided they are adults.
2. Zakat may be given to you wife’s parents.
3. The zakat paid in your own country will be discharged. Payment of Zakat should not be unnecessarily delayed. If you wish to pay Zakaat in your own ountry we suggest that you transfer the money electronically thus avoiding unnecessary delays..
