Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I wanted to ask few question but before i go further i want to tell you my story

Allah had bessed me with his strong imaan but suddenly i fell in a bad company, I started smoking weed, i started drinking alchohol, skipped my schools and did zinah. I am ashamed of myself and I want my life where Allah gives me his blessings and I want to convince him. Can i please know how can I get my Imaan strong enough to overcome these difficulties i.e (smoking, masturbating etc) please help me, Allah will bless you

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Dear Brother in Islam,

Allah ﷻ has created this world as a means of test and trials. We are faced with many different phases in our lives. At times, our Imaan will be strong and at other times, it will be weak. There will always be a constant change in our Imaan based on the difficulties we are faced with.

The solution to the issues you face is very simple yet very effective, adopt the company of pious people. Allah ﷻ states in the Qur-an,

كونوا مع الصادقين

(Translation: Be with the truthful.)

The Prophet ﷺ has mentioned,

الرَّجُلُ عَلَى دِينِ خَلِيلِهِ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْ يُخَالِلُ

(Translation: Man will be on the path of his friend, so you should beware of who you befriend.)

It is integral for one who wishes to lead a good life to attach himself with righteous and pious people. The type of people you associate with have a very significant impact on the actions and life you live.

You should make sincere repentance to Allah and make a firm intention to leave the sins you have been involved in.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
