Hurmat al Musaharah between a man and woman

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I wanted to ask whether it is necessary for musaharat to take place for a full erection to occur? Also, if there is only slight movement of the provate part, does this constitue enough ‘shahwat’ for musahara to take place. Please could you reply to my email, this would be really appreciated by me Jzk khair

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh

According to the Hanafi Mazhab, Hurmat Musāharah will be established between a man and a woman when one of them touches or kisses the other (without the barrier of a thick cloth) with Shahwat (lust). It is necessary for the male to have an erection with desire in order for the ruling of Hurmat Musaharah to be established.
